Sophie Clarke is a Mezzo-Soprano, Actor, Compère and Dancer from Liverpool. She has been awarded the Hargreaves and Ball Scholarship to study for a Masters of Music in Classical Singing and Opera at The Royal Northern College of Music and she is also kindly sponsored by Mr Peter Snook.

Sophie's career has only just begun with some highlights in recent years including performing as the Alto Soloist in Handel’s 'Messiah' at Nottingham’s Albert Hall and as the Mezzo-Soprano Soloist in the latest performance of Bernstein’s 'Mass' at The Royal Festival Hall, London. This production of the great work by West Side Story composer Leonard Bernstein was conducted by Marin Alsop, with vocal coaching by Mary King and direction by Jude Kelly CBE. Shortly before this, Sophie filmed her solo performance for BBC One’s new television series 'All Together Now!' Most recently, Sophie has just returned from Bergen, Norway after singing in the World Premier of Ryan Wigglesworth's 'Magnificat' at the Grieghallen with the Bergen Filharmoniske Kor, Edvard Grieg Kor and the Bergen Filharmoniske Orkester conducted by Edward Gardner. This Summer Sophie is delighted to be the Mezzo-Soprano Young Artist at the Great Yorkshire Dales Proms which features Lesley Garrett CBE, Wynne Evans and Sophie Evans alongside the Yorkshire Symphony Orchestra at Aireville Park in Skipton.

 Sophie is a regular concert soloist either performing her own solo shows or acting as a guest soloist in various prestigious events all over the UK. In addition, Sophie is a member of the RNCM Songsters - a pool of selected singers and pianists who specialise in song repertoire performing in a wide variety of concerts each year. She has been a Soloist at Liverpool Anglican Cathedral, the UK’s largest cathedral, on multiple occasions, at The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Hall and at Kings Cross St Pancras International Station for the Lord Mayor of London. She was the Guest Soloist at the 2021 Miss England Final in Coventry and Guest Soloist for the Rhos Orpheus Male Voice Choir alongside Foden's world renowned Brass Band at The Victoria Hall in Stoke-On-Trent. Some other performances include singing a duet of 'Beauty and the Beast' with The Voice of Disney Peabo Bryson in a charity event organised by the late David Gest and being selected for a solo performance at the World Famous Southport Flower Show which attracts over 50,000 visitors every year.


 In Opera, she has  performed as the Emperor in a new opera entitled ‘The Language of Flowers’ with libretto by New York Times Best Seller Cecil Castellucci and Music by Charlotte Marlowe at the Mercer Art Gallery in Harrogate. Most recently Sophie was delighted to be selected to attend a weekend residency at Opera North as a Leverhulme Arts Scholar to work on Baroque repertoire with Laurence Cummings, Matthew Eberhardt and Will Cole.

In 2020, Sophie graduated with a First Class Honours Degree in Musical Theatre from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London where she was a Leverhulme Arts Scholar. During her time at Trinity Laban, Sophie won the prestigious Trinity Laban Stephen Sondheim Performer of the Year Competition with her performance of Stay With Me from Into The Woods. Sophie was a Finalist and Second Prize Winner alongside pianist Tom Knowles in the English Song Competition after being the first Musical Theatre student in the school’s history granted permission to compete. She was also one of three finalists in the Voice of Musical Theatre Competition at the Llangollen International Eisteddfod in her first year of competing at the event. Other theatre and dance credits include tap dancing away in the one off charity performance of Singin In The Rain at The Adelphi Theatre, West End which was hosted by Julian Clary and dancing for Canadian Fashion Designer Edeline Lee at London Fashion WeekShe thoroughly enjoys work as an Emcee, most recently compèring for the London based Cinematic Syncopations Orchestra at Blackheath Halls.

Since the age of nine Sophie has performed in various charity concerts and events every year, most prominently for The British Heart Foundation singing to raise funds for defibrillators to be installed into public spaces such as schools and leisure centres.
