About Sophie

Praised for her "beautiful story telling" and "touching performances", Sophie Clarke has entered the classical music industry with thousands of loyal listeners and a line of successful performances at halls such as the Royal Festival Hall, Wigmore Hall, Bridgewater Hall, Cadogan Hall and St. George’s Hanover Square. Sophie has worked as a soloist under the baton of conductors including Marin Alsop, Colin Currie and Matthew Kofi Waldren performing works such as Bernstein’s Mass, Rutter’s Feel the Spirit and Reich’s Mallet Music. For the last three years she has been charming audiences all over the UK and Ireland as a soloist for London Concertante Orchestra on their West End Musicals Tour.

This September, Sophie is honoured to have been invited to Vatican City to receive an award for music; more information will be shared soon. For the 2026 summer season, Sophie will join Buxton International Festival for their performances of Le Dernier Sorcier in the role of La Reine. Throughout the season, Sophie will also be a Guest Classical Artiste for various premium cruise lines performing in Brazil and various European locations.

In addition to a busy stage career, Sophie’s videos and recordings have been played over 4 million times across 120 different countries. She has been featured radio stations in Europe, the Americas and Australia. Her social media presence is ever growing with 100K followers across her platforms which feature a selection of music videos, concert footage, behind the scenes and music history videos.

 In July 2024, Sophie graduated with Distinction from a Master of Music and Postgraduate Diploma in Classical Singing and Opera at The Royal Northern College of Music under the tutelage of Yvonne Howard and Louise Winter. She was the first student at the RNCM to be sponsored by the international Gilbert and Sullivan Society. Sophie’s principal sponsor throughout her time at the RNCM is Peter Snook and she was also kindly sponsored by the Hargreaves and Ball Scholarship and Ms J Hodge. Sophie has gone on to perform with the National Gilbert and Sullivan Opera Company at Buxton Opera House for the 2025 G&S Festival and has also performed various solo G&S recitals including at Gilbert’s former home, Grim’s Dyke.

Sophie was the RNCM Song Cycle Competition Winner 2023 and the Patricia Routledge National English Song Competition Winner 2022, for which she was subsequently invited to perform as part of the London Song Festival.

Sophie is a regular concert soloist performing with choirs, orchestras and solo musicians across the country including: Bernstein Mass (Royal Festival Hall under Marin Alsop and Bridgewater Hall under Clark Rundell) Handel Messiah (Nottingham Philharmonic), Steve Reich Festival (The Hallé), Rutter Feel The Spirit (Mid-Northumberland Chorus), Mozart Vesperae solennes de Confessore (New Sinfonia), Beethoven Mass in C(Settle Orchestra), West End Musicals UK & Ireland Tour (London Concertante), National Day of Spain (Consul General of Spain).

In theatre and opera, roles include: The Witch Into The Woods Sondheim (RNCM 50 Year Anniversary), Annina La Traviata Verdi (Debut Classical Opera in a Day, English National Ballet), Lyel The Snow Maiden Rimsky-Korsakov (RNCM Opera), Opera Gala (Bridgewater Hall). In summer 2023, Sophie was a Young Artist for Buxton International Festival performing as a member of the chorus in Bellini's La Sonnambula.

Sophie is a proud ambassador of Liverpool Heartbeat charity, to which her original song, ‘A Song For Us’ is dedicated to. Backed by the charity, Sophie has started the Liverpool School’s Classical Singing Workshop Programme so that more children in the Liverpool region can access classical singing and opera lessons at no cost. Since the age of nine Sophie has performed in various charity concerts and events every year all over the country, most prominently for The British Heart Foundation singing to raise funds for defibrillators to be installed into public spaces such as schools and leisure centres.

Sophie presents and performs at events for various clients including the Miss England Semi-Final for the Miss World Competition, The Good Small Business Awards, BBC Radio Merseyside and Maritime Museum for Eurovision and The Liverpool Commonwealth Association.‍ ‍

Sophie filmed her solo performance for BBC One television series All Together Now! sharing classical music with a wider audience and for Christmas 2022 she performed ‘Walking In The Air’ with Violinist Esther Abrami for Christmas Carols on ITV which was hosted by Jane McDonald.
