About Sophie

Praised for her "beautiful story telling" and "touching performances", Sophie Clarke has entered the classical music industry with thousands of loyal listeners and a line of successful performances. She has given solo performances in concert venues including the Royal Festival Hall, Wigmore Hall, Bridgewater Hall, Cadogan Hall and St. George’s Hanover Square in London’s West End. For the last three years she has been charming audiences all over the UK and Ireland with London Concertante Orchestra on their West End Musicals Tour.

For summer 2025, Sophie has gone on to perform with the National Gilbert and Sullivan Opera Company at Buxton Opera House for the 2025 G&S Festival and has also performed various solo G&S recitals including at Gilbert’s former home, Grim’s Dyke. For the 2025/2026 season, Sophie will be a Guest Artist for various cruise lines performing in Sydney, New Zealand, Brazil and various European locations.

In addition to a busy stage career, Sophie’s videos and recordings have been played over 2.5 million times across 120 different countries. She has been featured on various UK, European and US Radio Stations including BBC and iHeartRadio and has taken interviews in both English and Spanish. Her social media presence is ever growing with her selection of music videos, concert footage, behind the scenes and music history videos.

Sophie works extensively with classical guitarist Ravi Nathwani in a duo called Duo Cantelina. The pair are 2025 Young Artists for the International Guitar Foundation performing recitals in venues including Kings Place, London and Swansea Grand Theatre.  In July 2024, Sophie graduated with Distinction from a Master of Music and Postgraduate Diploma in Classical Singing and Opera at The Royal Northern College of Music under the tutelage of Yvonne Howard and Louise Winter. She was the first student at the RNCM to be sponsored by the international Gilbert and Sullivan Society. Sophie’s principal sponsor throughout her time at the RNCM is Peter Snook and she was also kindly sponsored by the Hargreaves and Ball Scholarship and Ms J Hodge. 

Sophie was the RNCM Song Cycle Competition Winner 2023 and the Patricia Routledge National English Song Competition Winner 2022, for which she was subsequently invited to perform as part of the London Song Festival. Recent highlights include performing the role of The Witch in Sondheim's Into The Woods for the RNCM 50 Year Anniversary, being the Alto Soloist in Handel’s Messiah at Nottingham’s Albert Hall and performing as the Mezzo-Soprano Soloist in Bernstein’s Mass firstly at The Royal Festival Hall in London, conducted by Marin Alsop, and then at Bridgewater Hall for the Manchester Premiere, conducted by Clark Rundell. In June of 2023, Sophie was delighted to make her Wigmore Hall debut singing works by composer Larry Goves to celebrate the RNCM 50 Year Anniversary. In Opera, she played the role of Lyel in Rimsky-Korsakov's The Snow Maiden for the RNCM Winter Opera 2023 and in 2024 she created the role of the Philosopher in the world premiere of Bicarregui’s new opera Capsule. In summer 2023, Sophie was a Young Artist for Buxton International Festival performing as a member of the chorus in Bellini's La Sonnambula.

Sophie is a proud ambassador of Liverpool Heartbeat charity, to which her original song, ‘A Song For Us’ is dedicated to. Backed by the charity, Sophie has started the Liverpool School’s Classical Singing Workshop Programme so that more children in the Liverpool region can access classical singing and opera lessons at no cost. Since the age of nine Sophie has performed in various charity concerts and events every year all over the country, most prominently for The British Heart Foundation singing to raise funds for defibrillators to be installed into public spaces such as schools and leisure centres.

Sophie was Guest Soloist and Compère for the 2024 Miss England Semi-Final in the lead up the 72nd Miss World Competition and performs at various other similar events throughout the year. Clients include, The Good Small Business Awards, BBC Radio Merseyside and Maritime Museum for Eurovision, The Liverpool Commonwealth Association and The Ned - Private Members’ Club. Sophie filmed her solo performance for BBC One’s television series All Together Now! sharing classical music with a wider audience and for Christmas 2022 she performed ‘Walking In The Air’ with Violinist Esther Abrami for Christmas Carols on ITV which was hosted by Jane McDonald.

In 2020, Sophie graduated with a First Class Honours Degree in Musical Theatre from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London where she was a Leverhulme Arts Scholar. During her time at Trinity Laban, Sophie won the prestigious Trinity Laban Stephen Sondheim Performer of the Year Competition with her performance of ‘Stay With Me’ from Into The Woods. Sophie was also a Finalist alongside pianist Tom Knowles in the English Song Competition after being the first Musical Theatre student in the school’s history granted permission to compete. Other theatre and dance credits include tap dancing away in the one off charity performance of Singin’ In The Rain at The Adelphi Theatre, West End which was hosted by Julian Clary and dancing for Canadian Fashion Designer Edeline Lee at London Fashion Week. She thoroughly enjoys work as an Emcee, most recently compèring for the 2024 Miss Liverpool Finals and for the London based Cinematic Syncopations Orchestra at Blackheath Halls.
